Well fair enough to that statement but I say, it is a tv show. Klaus is the main villain of the show and he has a lot of issues including his incessant need to assert dominance and control throughout his entire life because his father controlled him by tormenting him when he was human and forcing him to run from him for centuries. He will do whatever it takes to assert dominance even if it means hurting Caroline. BUT. He couldn’t do it. He was going to until Caroline said to him that he loved her. He himself didn’t realise it because he has hasn’t experienced love for centuries. So instead of fulfilling his need for power, he let his emotions take over, the key emotion being hope. Hope that there is a possibility that he can experience true love.
Okay that was completely off topic. But feels for character development. Anyway, back on topic. If this happened in real life I would be deeply disturbed because abusive relationships are completely unacceptable. But it is a tv show and they are vampires so it is a completely different context. I mean if we are going to go all moral on everything we could talk about the mass murder that happened last episode or the fact that they thought it was okay to leave someone in a room with perfect view of their brother’s corpse who he had to witness die in front of him. Yes it is important to discuss these things but I would also like to just relax and enjoy the show.
